Janelle Monae Tapped to Open on Katy Perry's Stateside Tour

Janelle Monáe is shaping up to have a busy summer. The Wondaland recording artist has been tapped as the opening act for six dates on the North American leg of Katy Perry's "California Dreams" tour, coming right on the heels of her co-headlining "Hooligans in Wondaland" trek with Bruno Mars.

Monae, who recently opened for Prince at several of his New York City gigs, will join the pop starlet on July 13 at Regina, South Dakota's Brandt Centre, continuing up to Canada for three dates in Winnipeg, Calgary and Edmonton. She rejoins with Perry on August 19 at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena before completing her tour duties at St. Louis' Scottrade Center on August 20.

Ahead of linking with Perry for her cotton candy-scented live experience, the 'Cold War' singer will grace venues across North America with label mate Mars and opening acts Plan B and Mayer Hawthorne for a 24-date tour that sets off at New York City's Roseland Ballroom on May 4. Mashonda Makes Peace With Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys

The smoke has cleared in the aftermath of R&B singer Mashonda's divorce from Swizz Beatz. After publicly blasting Alicia Keys for ruining her marriage to Swizz, the upcoming star of the VH1 reality show 'Love and Hip-Hop' has written an open letter to the happy couple, making peace with the pair and accepting their nuptials.

"It took some time, but I now realize that even my former husband and his new wife, are my partners in this wonderful journey," wrote Mashonda. "When I look into Kasseem's eyes, I see the joy in his heart by having such a wonderful, blended family that loves him so much. As this blended family of ours continues to grow, I look forward to the months and years ahead raising our children together as one."

The drama began in September 2009, following her split from Swizz, who was believed to have had an affair with Keys while they were still married. She penned an open letter to Keys following a Twitter beef, sharing just how hurt she was. "You have no idea how much pain I was caused because of this affair," she explained. "It's baffling to me that you don't understand what I might have gone through with this situation. I don't consider myself a victim anymore, I've learned a lot from this."

She continued firing shots in the following months, claiming that the two were "meant for each other" and blaming Keys for ruining their marriage. Now that she's let it go, Mashonda is focusing on 'Love and Hip-Hop,' which co-stars Fabolous' girlfriend Kimberly Bustamante, Jim Jones' girlfriend Christine "Chrissy" Lampkin, Olivia and Somaya Reese. Rihanna has partnered with UNICEF in support of the non-profit organization's Tap Project, which aims to educate consumers about the scarcity of clean drinking water for almost 900 billion people worldwide.

The Tap Project was launched in New York City in 2007, and other celebrity participants in the current campaign include Dwight Howard, Taylor Swift, Adrian Grenier, Selena Gomez and Robin Williams. Porn Company Offers to Halt Release of Usher Sex Tape

Earlier this week, news broke of an alleged sex tape featuring Usher and his ex-wife Tameka Raymond, but if one porn company gets their way, the video will never be released.

TMZ reports that Vivid Entertainment is looking to stop the tape from being distributed. Vivid CEO Steve Hirsch sent a letter to the 32-year-old crooner offering his service to put the kibosh on the tape, which he claims to have done for other celebs in the same predicament.

"We've learned that a sex video of you and your ex-wife is making its way around the adult industry," reads the letter. "As a result of this being an intimate and very personal tape we can certainly understand why you would want to stop its distribution. We may therefore be able [to] assist you in stopping your own video from any type of circulation."

Although Usher has remained mum about the tape, his ex-wife has spoken out, first denying that a tape even exists, and later took to her Twitter page to brush the whole thing off. "NEWSFLASH!! BREAKING NEWS! GUESS WHAT??!! ??? I have copulated w/my husband! O_O. Why is this news again?? #ConfusedTweet. End of discussion," she wrote.

The former couple was married in 2007, against the wishes of Usher's mother, Jonetta Patton. After two years and two young sons, Usher and Tameka called it quits, finalizing their divorce in 2009.

No word yet if Usher will take Vivid up on their offer.

Justin Bieber's Wax Figure Unveiling at Madame Tussauds in New York City, London and Amsterdam

Justin Bieber's wax statues are here! Three statues were unveiled at Madame Tussauds wax museums around the world, in New York, Amsterdam and London. Bieber was on hand in London to catch a glimpse of his wax likeness. And, as promised, the statues feature Bieber's old, swooping hairstyle. At the London unveiling, Bieber tweeted about how excited he was for the wax statues. "Arrived at @ to see my WAX figure!! the 1st time i saw a wax figure was in nyc and all we could do was look thru the glass," he wrote. "Now we are here in London and they r about to show my figure here and in amsterdam and in nyc at the one we looked thru the glass. #DREAMBIG."
Bieber's statue in New York is featured alongside his pal and mentor Usher in the VIP room. The NYC Bieber statue is wearing a black vest by will.i.am and pants by Balenciaga. The clothes were donated by Bieber himself.

"I'm honored to be getting my own wax figures," Bieber previously said about joining fellow pop stars like Rihanna, Taylor Swift and the Jonas Brothers at Madame Tussauds. "To be immortalized in wax alongside some of my idols — Michael Jackson, Prince, Beyoncé and my mentor, Usher — is incredibly exciting and very cool."

Evelyn Lozada Says "Basketball Wives" Producers Betrayed Her, So She's Quitting The Show

After last Sunday's explosive season finale of "Basketball Wives" Evelyn Lozada says she's quitting the show.
On this last Sunday's season finale of "Basketball Wives" Evelyn Lozada had a fight with castmate Tami Roman after Evelyn revealed she slept with Tami's ex, Kenny Anderson, while the two were married.  I have to give it to Shaunie O'Neal and the producers, I never saw that coming.  But now sources close to Evelyn say she wants to leave the show.
The sources told TMZ that Evelyn felt betrayed by the producers, whom she says stirred up a confrontation with a fellow castmember, by revealing details of an illicit affair.  Apparently Evelyn sent producers an email  saying she wants to leave the show.
Or...it could be a way to increase her salary.  Who wouldn't tune in next season to see her and Tami try to make amends?

Photo: Britney Spears On The Set Of New Video 'Til The World Ends'

Britney Spears‘ new single “Till The World Ends” begs to be danced to, and the pop star is obliging in its music video.
Brit Brit offered up the first photo from day one on the set of the Ray Kay-directed clip via her Twitter account. Looking sick and sexified with her stockings ripped all up the sides, Brit is shown in the shot relaxing with a bottle of Vitamin Water after working up a sweat dancing. “Just wrapped my first big dance number,” she wrote. “Taking a well deserved break people!”
Here’s hoping we actually get to see Brit dance in this clip, unlike the rapid cutaways that interrupted (or hid, depending on if you ask a fan or hater) the dancing in the “Hold It Against Me” video

Breaking News: Mariah Carey Returning To Sony Music!!!! L.A. Reid Bids Farwell to Def Jam Staff

Here’s LA Reid’s farewell letter to his staff at Def Jam. Sources tell me he’s heading to Sony Music–and of course “X Factor”– come this summer. And you heard this here first too: Mariah Carey will join him and Doug Morris back at Sony in 2012. She has one album left on her UMG contract, and she’ll release it before the end of the year. First she has to release those twins, due in two to three weeks.

D'Angelo Enters Guilty Plea for Prostitution Bust

D'Angelo is looking to put his prostitution bust behind him. The singer pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in a New York City courtroom on Friday. According to the Associated Press, prosecutors noted that the 37-year-old "satisfied conditions" brought on by the violation, but declined to elaborate further.

The Grammy winner was arrested in March of last year for attempting to solicit oral sex from an undercover cop, who he thought was a prostitute. D'Angelo, born Michael Eugene Archer, apparently forked over $40 for the cop's services, before he was busted in New York City's West Village. At the time of his arrest, the 'Brown Sugar' singer was driving alone in a Range Rover and was found to be in possession of $12,000 in cash. He was booked on a single count of patronizing a prostitute in the third degree, before being released.

"We know there is a lot of speculation in regard to the arrest of D'Angelo in New York City this past weekend," his manager Lindsay Guion said in a statement following the incident. "He is contesting the allegations made against him ... D'Angelo would like to personally thank all of his fans for the outpouring of concern, and appreciates if all would allow the American justice system to resolve the matter before jumping to any conclusions."

Since the act is considered a violation versus a crime, it is unclear what kind of punishment he will receive. D'Angelo has yet to release a statement on the case.

New Music: Nicole Scherzinger ‘Wet’

Half of Nicole Scherzinger's  full album Killer Love is pretty much all out on the internet. A new song from her forthcoming solo release surfaced tonight, the dance track ‘Wet’
‘Wet’ is another strong dance track that keeps the cohesive dance hit sound Nicole seems to have crafted thus far. I guess she just needed to find the right producers (RedOne, Stargate) to work with! It’s a bit of a rip off of Rihanna's ‘Only Girl (In the World) & S&M,’ but seeing as how those were such a great tracks itself I’m not really bothered by this since Nicole brings her own voice to this club banger. It’s not the best uptempo I’ve heard but I think Rihanna would have done the song some justice.

Rihanna Opens Up About Father’s Betrayal, Matt Kemp Break Up & Liberation In Vogue

When something feels real, you don’t have to make any apologies for it. When it feels good to you, nothing else matters. Everything else is just noise -Rihanna

Realest quote ever from Rihanna who covers Vogue’s 10th Annual Shape issue that hits stands this month. Inside, she reveals how the 2009 assault incident has helped her find liberation, her personal feelings towards her father and how she’s currently dealing with love (or lack of).  Check out a few highlights below:

On her father’s continuous betrayal
“[The assault incident] was the first time my dad went to the press and just told them a bunch of lies…he never called to find out how I was doing, if I was alive, nothing. He just never called. He went straight to the press and got a check. And now he does it again. Now, I’m like “Whatever, I tried”. (In reference to him selling her childhood photos recently).
It really makes me question what I have become to my father. Like, what do I even mean to him? It’s really strange. That’s the only word I can think of to describe it, because you grow up with your father, you know him, you are a part of him, for goodness’ sakes! And then he does something so bizarre that I can’t begin to wrap my mind around it. You hear the horror stories about people going behind people’s backs and doing strange things, but you always think, ‘Not my family. My father would never do that to me.’

On Life After Matt Kemp
I just kind of shut down from that. I just let it go. I don’t ever want to have to depend on a relationship. I think it’s a really hard thing to find love. It’s beautiful. Nothing can match it. But I want to make sure that I find other things in life that I love besides love.”

On how her music has changed since the assault incident
It actually gave me a lot of liberation. What I mean is, I was able to tap into the personal part of my music. I started to tell stories through my music that were actually my stories. My album before that, there was still a little bit of protection, there was still an innocence to me. And what that time in my life did was kind of wake people up: it’s not all bed of roses. My life is like yours.”
“It made me look at the world in a much bigger way because my life was suddenly superduper magnified; all eyes were on me. I needed that in my life to know how to say, ‘F—k off.’ To know how to keep my head high even in the worst situations. I keep using the word unapologetic. But there is a freedom that has come with all of that. Where you feel like you don’t have to make an excuse for being yourself.”

On the pressures of being a Role Model
Pop icons nowadays are very fearless, unapologetic, edgy, and it’s a lot for people to swallow sometimes. Because people still think pop star equals role model, but it’s almost impossible to walk that line. I’ve struggled with it and have come to the conclusion that I can live my life for me.

Whitney Houston's Teen Daughter Bobbi Kristina Slams Rehab Rumors

Whitney Houston's daughter Bobbi Kristina has taken to the web to deny reports she is rehab bound following suggestions she is struggling with drug addiction.

The 18 year old, whose father is Bobby Brown, was embroiled in a drug scandal earlier this month, March 11, after pictures of her allegedly snorting cocaine at two separate parties were obtained by U.S. tabloid the National Enquirer.
Bobbi Kristina denied the speculation, insisting the photographs were set up by an ex-boyfriend to look as if she was indulging in narcotics. New rumors circulated suggesting the teen was heading to a rehabilitation center to ensure she did not follow the same path as her famous parents, who have both battled with drug addiction.

But she has now taken to her Twitter.com page to take aim at the reports, writing, "Excuse me but I'd like to say that I am NOT going to rehab? I'm perfectly healthy and I am not addicted to anything but life. Home with the family_ pffft media cracks me up ! Rehab my a**, think what you want, but I'm a blessed perfectly healthy young lady."

It's Official: L.A. Reid Joins Simon Cowell as 'X Factor (US)' Judge

As reported yesterday, Rumors about L.A. Reid joining Simon Cowell's X Factor (US) are now official!
He's mentioned as one of the confirmed three judges who would join Simon Cowell on "The X Factor (US)". THR's sources said "it's a done deal" for Reid who would be released from his contract with Universal Music earlier in order to concentrate on the show.

The show is partnering with Sony Music in giving the winner a recording contract worth $5 million. It is believed that Reid is to land a position at the recording company which will undergo a major management restructuring when current UMG chairman Doug Morris sits as its CEO on July 1.

Cowell said recently that the official announcement would be made this week. Some names which have emerged as the possible candidates are Paula Abdul, George Michael, Mariah Carey and Nicole Scherzinger. "We've taken it down to a smaller group of people and she's in that panel," Cowell confirmed earlier this month about Paula. "But, you know, it's more than me who makes the decision."

Auditions for "The X Factor" begin March 27 in Los Angeles.

Lupe Fiasco Debuts at No. 1 on Hot 200, Kicking Adele Out!

After not releasing a new album for more than three years, Lupe Fiasco has now made a comeback with a grand entry on Billboard Hot 200. The rapper debuts at the first position on the U.S. albums chart, dethroning last week's champ Adele.

Lupe rules the chart with his third studio album "Lasers" which has sold 204,000 copies in its opening week. It becomes his highest-charting album and best sales week so far. His previous efforts "Food and Liquor" and "The Cool" peaked at No. 8 and No. 15 in 2006 and 2007 respectively.

Adele is forced to leave the No. 1 place and sit at the runner-up spot as her sophomore set "21" adds another 133,000. The U.K. Grammy-winning singer previously reigned the chart for two weeks in a row with 352,000 copies in its first week and 168,000 copies in its second week.

PCD Audition to Replace Nicole Scherzinger

Now that Nicole Scherzinger is busy with her solo project, The Pussycat Dolls' creator Robin Antin is left with no other choice than looking for a fresh face. She has recently announced an audition to replace the 32-year-old singer and the other members of the group.

"Calling ALL PCD's! I'm so excited to announce that I'm holding an AUDITION in L.A. for THE NEW PUSSYCAT DOLLS, (The Recording Group!)," she wrote on her Facebook and Twitter. "Looking for the most Beautiful Lead Singers/& amazing Dancers...triple threats!"

The audition will take place at the end of this month on Tuesday, March 29 at the Center Staging Studio. The address is "11 3407 Winona Ave Burbank CA, 91504." Robin detailed more, "TIME: NOON.. Pls b on time! Attire: PCD!"

The Pussycat Dolls started to break up in late 2009, and left Nicole Scherzinger as the only remaining member by March 2010. At that time, Robin Antin and Nicole repeatedly insisted that the "Don't Hold Your Breath" singer was there to stay.

In May, a new line-up of The Pussycat Dolls was unveiled. "Fame" star Kherington Payne, "America's Best Dance Crew" alum Rino Nakasone-Razalan, the former contestant of PCD's reality show Jamie Lee Ruiz, and Vanessa Curry joined the group.

They debuted their performance with Nicole in a private event in Los Angeles, but it seemed that the launching was not well prepared. There was no new concept or new image for them. The girls simply performed with similar outfit worn by the old Dolls in "Doll Domination" tour.

Michael Jackson Injected Himself to Death?

Embattled celebrity physician Dr. Conrad Murray's lawyers are out to prove Michael Jackson was responsible for his own death after requesting fingerprint evidence to support allegations the King of Pop injected himself with the drug that killed him.

The medic stands accused of administering the fatal dose of Propofol which led to Jackson's death in June 2009 and is due to face trial in May. He has pleaded not guilty to a charge of involuntary manslaughter and his lawyers are now set to argue Murray wasn't even holding the needle when he was said to have injected his most famous client with the drug, according to TMZ.

During a Los Angeles court hearing on Wednesday, March 16, Murray's legal team requested experts at the FBI deliver a first generation fingerprint of a broken syringe detectives found at the scene of the alleged crime.

TMZ reports Murray has denied breaking the needle and his lawyers are convinced the evidence is key to the investigation, claiming Jackson injected himself while the doctor was out of the room.

Meanwhile, it emerged this week that surveillance video footage from Jackson's California home on the day he died has reportedly been accidentally erased after police officers allegedly failed to make a full copy. Detectives initially probing Jackson's death are said to have copied just four minutes of footage, which shows nothing but the singer arriving home.

Jay-Z and Beyonce Collaborate for Dr. Dre's "Detox"

It's been almost five years since Jay-Z and Beyoncé released a collaboration, but they're breaking their cold streak. Hip-hop's royal couple has allegedly recorded vocals on the same track for Dr. Dre's mythical 'Detox' album, with Jay and Dre taking on verse duties and the R&B singer holding it down on the chorus.

"Jay and Dre have recorded their verses with the chorus left open for Beyonce to sing," a source told The Sun.

The last time that Jay and Bey graced the same song was on Hov's 2007 album 'American Gangster' on the track 'Pray,' though she relegated her contribution to spoken word instead of singing. Together, they have earned some of the biggest hits of their career, with Beyoncé's breakout solo single 'Crazy in Love' topping the charts in 2003 and Jay's ''03 Bonnie & Clyde' became his second top-10 single as a solo artist.

Dr. Dre has been working on his third and last album for over a decade, putting in studio time with everyone from Akon and Snoop Dogg on the single 'Kush,' to Lil' Kim, Eminem, T.I., Raekwon, Common and a slew of others. In January, he revealed that he will finally release the elusive album on April 20.

Cosby Tells Russell Simmons To "Get The F*ck Out Of My Face"

Bill Cosby is not a fan of Russell SimmonsPage Six reports that during the Jackie Robinson Annual Awards Dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria last week, Bill told Russell Simmons to "get the [bleep] out of my face."  SMH.  Isn't it hard to imagine Dr. Huxstable using those words?  Funny as hell though.
So where does this beef come from?  The NY Post says the two icons has been beefing since 2009 when Russell criticized Bill's "State of Emergency" campaign promoting socially conscious rap music.  Russell took issue with Bill telling young folks how to express their music and words and that upset Bill.
Russell approached Bill at the dinner saying, "I wanted to find him to apologize, to tell him I was sorry about my statements and to tell him that I loved him."  But then....Mr. Cosby said,  "Get the [bleep] out my face!"
And if that wasn't enough, Russell says Bill "walked by me and bumped me with his shoulder as I walked offstage after presenting my award to Sean [Combs, who was honored at the event] . . . I then loved him even more."
Who knew Bill was gangsta like that?  He will curse you out and throw bows all at the same time.  Gotta love it.

L.A. Reid Set To Judge U.S. "X-Factor", Leaving Def Jam For Sony?!

L.A. Reid is indeed set to become Simon Cowell's first pick for one of four judged for the new U.S. "X-Factor."
And that's not all.  He's switching up his other day job as head of a major record company-- in a major way.  Details when you read on...
Simon Cowell is bringing his other mammoth UK singing competition tv show, "X-Factor," here to the U.S. this fall.  And insiders connected to the show tell us producers are heavily interested in the current Def Jam head honcho L.A. Reid to be one of the 4 judges. They believe this will be the major move that will establish L.A. as a household name.
While Simon's Fox shows "American Idol" and "X-Factor" are similar in nature, "X-Factor" differs because each of the four judges mentor a group of contestants throughout the season.  And the judges do everything in their power to make sure the winner of the entire competition comes from their group.
There have been speculations for months that L.A. was being scouted for the position.  Now, we're told L.A.'s new job is a done deal, but it's being kept on the hush because there are issues with him currently working for a competing label.
